On Windows, Microsoft Edge is often the default—and for good reason if you live in Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint all day. But Edge’s out-of-the-box new tab still isn’t your workflow. Every Ctrl+T should land where work actually starts, not on a page full of news you didn’t ask for.
New Tab Redirect Extension Edge points every new tab to a URL you configure and blocks the domains that derail your day. Install from Microsoft’s add-on store; settings stay local on your machine.
What Is New Tab Redirect Extension Edge?
New Tab Redirect is packaged for Microsoft Edge with the same two core features:
New Tab Redirect — Custom destination on every new tab: Teams, Outlook, OneNote, about:blank, or any https link.
Tab Redirect Blocker — Domain list with overlay or redirect when you hit a blocked site. Edit, disable, or bypass anytime.
From newtabredirect.com:
- Redirect new tabs to any URL
- Presets and custom new tab page
- Website blocker with editable rules
- Overview stats and status panel

- 12 languages

A Microsoft 365 Morning, Streamlined
| Without NTR | With NTR |
|---|---|
| New tab → Edge default | New tab → Outlook or Teams web |
| Hunt for the right bookmark | Already on your task board |
| “Quick check” of a distracting site | Blocker intercepts the visit |
Point new tabs at your calendar, internal wiki, project doc, or about:blank for a clean slate. Add the domains you mindlessly open during standup prep to the tab redirect blocker.
Features That Fit Office Routines
Presets & custom URLs — Built-in shortcuts plus your own https links.
Block list with bypass — Block overlay or redirect; allow access when a link is genuinely needed.
Overview panel — See redirect status and blocking activity at a glance.
Export / import — Move settings between work laptop and home PC after an Edge reinstall.
12 languages — Match your team’s locale from extension settings.
Edge-Specific Notes
Blocking scope — Runs on regular http/https pages. Built-in edge:// pages and the Add-ons store are not block targets.
New tab targets — https URLs and about:blank work as redirect destinations—separate from what the blocker can intercept.
Local storage — Redirect targets, block lists, and settings stay on your device. NTR does not upload your URLs or browsing history for these features.
Edge FAQ
Do I install from the Chrome Web Store on Edge?
No. Use the Microsoft Edge Add-ons listing.
Can I paste a Teams or SharePoint URL as my new tab?
Yes—any normal https link works after you save.
Does NTR sync settings to the cloud?
Settings are stored locally. Use export/import to move them manually.
Will this slow down Edge?
NTR runs lightweight redirect and block checks—designed for all-day tab openers.
